Scotch Plains-Fanwood Public Schools is holding a bond referendum on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Voting in person or by mail is easy! Polls will be open from 2-8 p.m.
How and where can I vote in-person?
In-person voting will be available on Tuesday, January 28.
Polls will be open from 2-8 p.m. The polling locations being used in the special election are the same locations as a typical general election. Please visit this website to determine your poll location.
If you arrive at the polls and are told that your ballot was already mailed to you, ask for a provisional ballot. This means your ballot will be counted once all mailed ballots are double-checked and processed.
Am I registered to vote? How do I register?
Regardless of how you cast your ballot, an up-to-date voter registration is required to vote.
Voters must be registered by January 7, and the registration must reflect their current address and name.
Check your voter registration status in the state database.
To register online, complete a voter registration form on the NJ Voter Information Portal.
To register by mail, print and mail a paper registration form, offered in English and Spanish, to the Union County Commissioner of Registration, 271 North Broad Street, Floor 2 Elizabeth, NJ 07208. You can also request a voter registration application be mailed to you.

How can I vote by mail?
If you have requested a Vote By Mail ballot sent for all elections, you should be sent one automatically.
Union County will mail those ballots a couple weeks in advance of the referendum.
Check your Vote by Mail status by contacting the Office of the Union County Clerk at 908-527-4996 or email ucvote@ucnj.org.
Request a Vote By Mail ballot by submitting a paper application in English or Spanish to the County Clerk’s office. To receive a ballot in the mail, your application must arrive at the County Clerk’s office no later than Tuesday, January 21.
Please note voters can also request a Vote By Mail ballot in person at the County Clerk’s Offices (2 Broad Street, Room 113, Elizabeth or 300 North Avenue East, Westfield) anytime up until 3 p.m. on the day before the referendum.
Mail your ballot before the day of the vote! All mailed ballots must be postmarked by Tuesday, January 28. You can also hand deliver your mail-in ballot by dropping it off before 8 p.m. on January 28. Find a drop box near you by visiting the Union County website.
Track your ballot using the state’s voter portal. Setting up an account is free, and while this is an optional step, it is the only way to reliably monitor the status of your ballot online.
